Over the years, the citizen’s participation is an issue that has become increasingly relevant in public management. In this context, in 2011 Law No. 20.500 on Associations and Citizen Participation in Public Management was approved. The mechanisms for citizen participation established by Law No. 20.500 are declared in the General Standards of Citizen Participation (NGPC) of each Public Service. ProChile has implemented the following citizen participation mechanisms:
Participatory Public Accounts are spaces for open dialogue between public authorities and representatives of civil society and citizen in general. These spaces for dialogue allow the public authority to render an annual account of the public policies management, and the citizens to exercise monitoring and evaluation of public administration.
In this process, the General Director delivers information on the management carried out by the Institution to later be evaluated by the community, generating transparency, conditions of trust and guaranteeing the exercise of citizen control over public administration.
