Thus, marking a new milestone, Chile was present at one of the largest technological congresses in Europe, the Web Summit, which last year was left behind the screen due to the pandemic, returned on November 1 in person until November 4 in Lisbon, Portugal.
"Web Summit has proven to be an important platform to position Chile as a source of innovative solutions, being also our pioneer country in Latin America together with Brazil. In turn, the event has allowed companies to generate contact networks with decision makers from the corporate and investment world worldwide, which we hope will be of great value in their international expansion processes", said Sofía del Sante, ProChile's Commercial and Innovation Representative in Munich, Germany.
This important event had the participation of more than 100,000 attendees from around 150 countries, where the participation of more than 1,500 investors, 2,500 startups and more than 2,000 journalists stood out. Among the outstanding participants of the year 2019 are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Siemens, Huawei, Mercedes-Benz, among others.
Thanks to the help of ProChile, 5 Chilean companies participated: Yoy, Omnix, Kauel, Fracttal, EnlightAid, who had the opportunity to interact with multiple innovation ecosystems around the world, giving them coverage within different geographical areas.
"It is the first time that Chile has participated with a meeting point and delegation of companies in Web Summit and its presence has been received very positively. It has allowed us to generate new contact networks with key players in the European ecosystem, which we hope will materialize in new collaborations that facilitate the expansion of Chilean companies in the European market ", highlighted the Director of ProChile in Spain, Sebastián Pillado.
Web Summit is one of the most relevant mass meetings worldwide in the fields of Innovation, entrepreneurship and technology. He was born in 2010 in Dublin and in 2016 he moved to Lisbon, where he plans to stay until at least 2028 after the agreement signed with the Portuguese authorities.
Its last in-person edition, in 2019, had an impact of 72 million euros on the internal demand of the city.
