Cueca, baile and the national anthem marked this Friday the inauguration of the Chilean Pavilion at EXPO 2020 DUBAI, a 600 m2 physical space, inspired by the Antarctic bases of Chile and with a simple red volume that stands out in the desert landscape of Dubai
The ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Rodrigo Yáñez, and the General Director of ProChile, Jorge O’Ryan. Also present were the Commissioner and Ambassador, Jorge Daccarett, and the Deputy Commissioner General, Charles Kimber.
“There is no better platform than the Expo to unite minds and souls to advance these common challenges. We, like Chile, want to increase our presence and our networks with the cooperation of the government, in particular with the UAE as a strategic country in the Gulf Region ”, said Undersecretary Yáñez at the beginning of the inauguration.
For his part, Ambassador Daccarett addressed the authorities in Arabic, expressing that he was very happy that Chile is participating in this great event.
“As a country we are very happy to be present at this exhibition, which for the first time takes place at MENA and especially here in the United Arab Emirates, a country with which we continue to strengthen our diplomatic relations. We believe that we can continue to grow on that path and we are confident that this exhibition will be the key to achieving it, ”said Daccarett.
Chile's participation in this important face-to-face fair, which will receive more than 10 million people in six months, will be with a pavilion that will function as a business center where Chilean businessmen and entrepreneurs will have a showcase to the world to show their innovative solutions on issues such as sustainability, innovation and food security.
“This meeting will be an event focused on business, taking into account the ravages of the pandemic worldwide. It will also be the perfect opportunity to increase the relationship with our commercial partners in the area and, at the same time, attract investment to our country ”, declared the General Director of ProChile, Jorge O’Ryan.
