Tour in Texas: Chilean entrepreneurs participated in a strategic journey of learning, inspiration and networking

After approximately two years of virtual activities in the context of the pandemic, Endeavor Chile resumed its face-to-face agenda with a new commercial tour with 11 entrepreneurs that was developed in conjunction with ProChile in Texas, United States, from November 29 to November 7 December.

The main objective of the instance was to connect, develop and strengthen the innovation, knowledge and business ecosystems between Texas and Chile, expose Chilean entrepreneurs to new ideas and technologies to inspire them to develop new innovations, and explore new business opportunities in a later era. to Covid-19.

During the trip, the participants highlighted the benefits of being able to interact in person with the environment and the spontaneous conversations that helped to generate closer ties and also the special similarity that exists between Texas and Chile.

“It is very interesting to understand how Texas has been transformed into a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, and what has been done from entrepreneurs, from private and public institutions, universities, etc. to promote this growth ”, commented the director of Market Access at Endeavor, Camila Correa, part of the organizing team of the activity.

A vision shared and complemented by Emilio Armstrong, ProChile Commercial Representative in Texas. “The size of the economy of the State of Texas caused a great impact, if it were a country it would be the ninth largest economy in the world. In turn, they were impacted by the favorable pro-business context, low regulations and low taxes, despite the power of manufacturing and industrialization. The reasons why TESLA moved to Texas were clear. There are great opportunities for the search for venture capital given its exponential growth in the last 5 years, this year the Texan VCs will end up investing around $ 6 billion dollars. And finally, Texas continues to prove to be a very relevant logistics hub in the US, a few days ago the Port of Houston canal was again # 1 in tonnage in the United States according to the US Army Corps of Engineers, a very relevant indicator for future Chilean exports to this market ”, emphasized Armstrong.

Along the same lines, Correa highlighted that “many times when entrepreneurs think of the United States, they think of opening offices in Miami, San Francisco or New York, but there is much more, and this type of tour helps to understand that to internationalize a company , in addition to seeking to generate immediate commercial relationships, it is important to generate networks, learn and be inspired by new experiences that will be of enormous benefit in the medium and long term ”.

In the instance, topics such as the new climate agenda of the United States, digital economy, energy transition, among other relevant trends that are marking the development of current businesses, were addressed.

Representatives of the Chilean companies Kauel, Bsale, Anastassia.ai, Laudex, Wholemeaning, Kibernum, Isolcork, Grupo Air, Antara Mining, Good Meal, Larraín Vial and Caja Los Andes participated.

“On this trip we witnessed an impressive ecosystem, we got to know how innovation is lived in Texas and we learned great things about it. We came back inspired and eager to put what we saw into practice ”, commented Wholemeaning founder and Endeavor entrepreneur, Juan José Besa, after returning from the trip.

The agenda included talks, networking spaces and meetings with Venture Capital organizations and accelerators that have shaped the innovation ecosystem in Texas, scale-ups and startups that lead new technologies and innovation in the region, Chambers of Commerce, among other companies. technology companies and institutions in the Austin and Houston area, such as Capital Factory, Entrepreneur Center of Austin, University of Houston, Amegy Bank, East and Maker Hub, Mediatech Ventures, The Cannon, The HTXeleraton, The Ion, among others.

Another relevant factor is staying connected with someone in the area, in this case from ProChile, like Emilio Armstrong, who knows and interacts very well with people in the area. Great contribution and mission developed by Endeavor and ProChile ”, highlighted Edmundo Casas, founder of the technology company Kauel.

This tour was developed within the framework of the Internationalization Plan based on the strategic alliance between Endeavor, and the Chilean consulting firm Vantaz, which has contemplated different instances during the year focused on supporting and accompanying the international expansion of companies linked to the network's portfolio, which will continue to develop in 2022 with projections for other markets in Latin America, the United States and Europe.
