Join us at the Chile Pavilion and be part of a celebration that honors the creativity, resilience, and leadership of Chilean women. Every activity is open to the public unless otherwise noted—come discover Chile through the voices of its women.
From September 2 to 6, the Chile Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 will host Chile: A Country of Women Week, a vibrant celebration of Chilean women’s contributions to science, arts, innovation, and community leadership. Visitors are warmly invited to participate in a series of immersive activities designed to inspire, educate, and connect across cultures.
Start your journey with the permanent exhibition “Chile, A Country of Women”, featuring audiovisual stories and real-life initiatives from Chile’s public and private sectors. Discover projects like feminist foreign policy, community care centers, and women-led environmental efforts and other like “Registro Civil te Cuida” (Civil Registry Takes Care of You), the Feminist Foreign Policy (PEF), the María La Biyux project
Visitors will also receive a Japanese-language booklet titled Inspiradoras (made by the Chilean Science Ministry) and a bookmark inspired by its content.
There will also be a selection of 20 stories from Santiago in 100 words, designed, translated into Japanese, and accompanied by a curatorial text to be displayed on large screens in the pavilion.
Tuesday, September 2 – Opening Day
At 11:00 AM, meet the artisans behind the Makün, the traditional textile that adorns the Chile Pavilion. These women will share their creative journey in an open dialogue.
At 3:00 PM, participate in Mapuche weaving workshops led by Anita Paillamil and Norma Millache. Each session is limited to 10 participants—don’t miss this hands-on cultural experience.
Wednesday, September 3 – Voices and Visions
At 11:00 AM, attend the panel event “Chile, A Country of Women Under the Makün”, where inspiring Chilean women—including Carmen García, Elisa Torres, Magda Yisel Parada, and Claudia Maturana—share their personal journeys and reflections on leadership, science, and social impact.
At 3:00 PM, explore a visual arts exhibition featuring works by Chilean women artists, accompanied by curated texts and information panels. Simultaneously, enjoy graphic displays of short stories from Santiago in a Thousands Words, and a special crafts showcase “From the Roots”, presenting Mapuche textiles by Anita Paillamil and the Wallontu Witral collective, which is part for the program "Carolina Herrera for Woman in Arts".
Thursday, September 4 – Dialogue and Exchange
At 11:00 AM, join another round of Mapuche weaving workshops, this time led by all four Makün artisans. These sessions offer a deeper dive into traditional techniques and collaborative storytelling.
From 12:30 to 2:00 PM, attend the seminar “Breaking Barriers, Building Futures” at the Women’s Pavilion (WA). This special event will underscore Chile's steadfast commitment to gender equity through policy innovation, economic empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration. We are honored to feature Claudia Sanhueza, Vice Minister of International Economic Relations, as our keynote speaker. Her participation will provide valuable insights into Chile’s progressive agenda and its role in shaping inclusive global economic policies

Friday, September 5 – Showcasing Chilean Talent
At 3:00 PM, explore the Chile Showroom, featuring six Chilean innovators and learn about their work.
At 6:00 PM, enjoy a live performance by Chilean payadora Emma Madariaga at the West Pop-Up Stage—a celebration of Chilean poetic tradition and musical improvisation.
Saturday, September 6 – Cultural Collaboration
At 11:00 AM, witness a unique musical encounter under the Makün, where Emma Madariaga will collaborate with three Japanese shamisen artists in a bilingual performance and dialogue.
At 6:00 PM, Madariaga returns to the West Pop-Up Stage for another captivating show.
