Themed week at the national pavilion will highlight the country's progress in removable energy and its commitment to the energy transition.
From August 24 to 28, the Chilean pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 will be the epicenter of the country's commitment to energy transition and the development of green hydrogen as a key source for global decarbonization. The theme week will bring together authorities, trade associations, companies, students, and experts around a program that combines innovation, technical training, and international cooperation.
The national delegation will be led by Energy Minister Diego Pardow and includes representatives from ProChile, trade associations, companies, and experts from the energy sector, as well as a team of students who will give a demonstration of the Green Hydrogen Grand Prix.
The head of the Energy Ministry praised the work done on the development of green hydrogen and stressed the importance of citizens in this process. “We hope that visitors to the pavilion will see that our country's efforts, the Chilean government's efforts to achieve a decarbonized society, are not just an institutional push, but stories of real people who are leading this energy transition on a daily basis,” said Pardow.
Ignacio Fernández, Director General of ProChile, also highlighted the importance of this event: "The clean energy and green hydrogen week in Osaka will show the world Chile's position as a leader in these areas. ProChile's work in this area, aligned with the work of various government institutions, focuses on coordinating the supply of solutions for the H2V and clean energy industry. We are supporting them in their internationalization with the idea that they can export these solutions to different markets, including Japan."
Chile has positioned itself as a world leader in the production of green hydrogen thanks to its exceptional geographical conditions which, combined with a solid port infrastructure and an ambitious energy policy, project the country as the most competitive H2V producer in the world in the coming years. In terms of energy transition, the country ranked 21st globally and second in Latin America in the World Economic Forum and Accenture's Energy Transition Index 2025. In Chile, renewable energies accounted for nearly 68% of electricity generation in 2024, according to the National Electricity Coordinator.
Program of activities: Green Hydrogen Grand Prix and immersive experience
The theme week includes a diverse program that combines technical demonstrations, trade presentations, and interactive activations. The official opening will take place on Sunday, August 24, led by Minister Diego Pardow, business leaders linked to the world of energy, and Green Hydrogen trade associations from across the country.
During the event, there will be a demonstration of H2 Grand Prix Chile (H2GP), an international science and engineering training and learning program for high school students, who modify and compete with radio-controlled vehicles powered by green hydrogen, a competition led by the SOFOFA Educational Corporation.
With Colbún as the main sponsor, six students and two teachers from technical vocational high schools, representing the country's largest renewable energy centers, will showcase their skills in the program and their knowledge of renewable energy through a track competition exhibition. This activity, which will be repeated on the 25th and 26th in the Chilean pavilion at the Expo, seeks to highlight the talent and leadership of young technicians in the energy transition, promoting gender equality in specialties with a lower female presence.
Over the following days, there will be presentations by associations such as ACESOL, ACERA, and ANESCO, as well as the company Nido Constructech, in addition to exhibitions of wind projects using virtual reality and the presentation of an immersive experience entitled “If it's green hydrogen, the world begins with Chile,” created by the Ministry of Energy especially for this week.
On Wednesday, the 27th, a specialized seminar entitled “Energy Transition: The Importance of Renewable Energy and the Future of Green Hydrogen” will be held in Tokyo, featuring a presentation by Minister Pardow, two panel discussions, and the participation of Japanese companies in the field.
