Chile Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 exceeds half a million visitors and consolidates its international impact

The figure marks a milestone for Chile's presence at the world expo in Japan, strengthening the country's image as innovative, sustainable, and open to the world.

Kana, with her children Suzuha and Kodai, became the 500,000th visitors to the Chile Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 on Friday. They were welcomed by the pavilion authorities and treated to a musical show by the Chilean group “BomboDiablo y La Flor del Romero,” an adaptation of the band “Familia Bombo Trio.”

Since its opening nearly two months ago, the Chilean pavilion has been praised by international visitors, who have been amazed by the “Makün: El Manto de Chile” (Makün: The Mantle of Chile) - a 242-square-meter mantle hand-woven by 200 Mapuche weavers - and the immersive experience that connects visitors with Chile's territorial, cultural, and productive diversity.

In addition, through the permanent wine, pisco, and other alcohol bar and the themed weeks on agri-food, astronomy, and meat and dairy products, visitors have been able to experience different facets of Chile through tastings, artists, talks, and other activities.

"Reaching half a million visitors at our pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 is a clear sign of the interest that Chile generates around the world. This figure not only reflects the appeal of our pavilion, but also the value of our proposal. Every person who walks through its doors takes away an image of Chile as an innovative country committed to the future. This milestone strengthens the country's image and helps promote our trade with Japan, currently the third destination for our total exports," said Ignacio Fernández, Director General of ProChile.

For her part, Paulina Nazal, Chile's General Commissioner for Expo Osaka, highlighted the experience of visitors: “We have welcomed people of all ages and nationalities, who have deeply appreciated the warmth of our people, the quality of our products, and the richness of our landscapes. The pavilion has been a space for meeting, learning, and excitement.

500,000 visitors is a recognition of the collaborative work of the public and private sectors and of an entire country that wanted to be present at this global showcase with an authentic and meaningful proposal.”

Chile's participation in Expo Osaka 2025 will continue over the coming months with new activities, themed weeks, and high-level meetings: next week's theme will be seafood, and in mid-June, the training ship Esmeralda is expected to arrive in the port of Osaka.
