Our organic, ecological, or biological agricultural offering continues to have a steady growth, with a total area of 20,897 certified hectares and 92,279 hectares of wild harvest. Exports of Chilean organic products grew 12% in 2019, compared to that of 2018, adding up to US$280 million in shipments. As of July 2020, the accumulated exports totaled US$210 million, which represents an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Organic products from Chile include: fresh blueberries, frozen blueberries, fresh apples, frozen raspberries, olive oil, wines and fruit pulps/purées, among many others.
Chile’s organic production stands out for its low environmental impact, water efficiency, soil improvement, low incidence of pests and disease, quality systems, norms and procedures, assessment and recognition of the Chilean Standard, complete monitoring of production and processing, purity and freshness of origin. Today Chile has more than 200 export companies, 3 equivalence and mutual recognition agreements, and as of 2018, with the European Union and as of 2019 with Brazil and Switzerland.
