VICENTE HUIDOBRO (1893 – 1948)
Each year we highlight an outstanding representative of Chilean literature. This year we will have the honor to remember the literary work of the Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro. He was one of the most influential poets from Latin America. Huidobro was the founder of avant-garde poetry and an exponent of the literary movement called “creationism”. He wrote poetry in Spanish and French. He lived in Paris but since he studied in Berlin and Fribourg, there was also a strong link to Germany. Part of his work was translated into German by Johannes Beilharz.
