The most important showcase for Chilean video games

From August 21 to 23, 12 Chilean video game companies will be at the Koelnmesse Convention Centre in Cologne, Germany, the epicentre of the most important European annual conference for the global videogames industry.

The 12 members of the Chilean delegation will join thousands of programmers, artists, producers, publishers, game designers, audio professionals and other people involved in developing interactive games, who will all be converging in Cologne to exchange ideas and set up networks of contacts for future businesses.

A dynamic industry that seeks international consolidation

For the third consecutive time, a delegation of Chilean videogame companies will be present at the Gamescom with the support of ProChile*.

This is an industry experiencing dynamic growth and currently comprising over 40 companies in Chile that mainly work on their own intellectual property projects, but also for third parties. Around 85% of them are members of the Chilean Association of Videogame Development Companies (VG Chile).

The association reports that in 2017 the industry’s total sales amounted toUS$5.8 million.

The consolidation of this industry is directly linked to its promotion at the international level. This is why last year 70.3% of the Chilean companies took part in a mission, trade fair or festival abroad, and this participation enabled them to gain over US$1.1 million of revenues.

According to VG Chile, Europe is currently one of the main markets for Chilean video games, where currently 154 videogame projects are being developed, mainly for Android, PC, iOS, Web, Play Station, Xbox One, Mac and Facebook.
